It's not often that I feel compelled towards the political in my religious messages. This is an exception.

Putting up walls and writing down laws do little to protect our freedoms compared with loving the foreigner and remembering that you and I were strangers in a strange land.
Religion must be about love and compassion if it has anything to do with God.

Please, in this next week as you celebrate your freedom, do something that is within your power to help this great country remain a bastion of freedom.

(Complaining doesn't count as doing something.)
